It's a BOY!

My cousin Kate had a baby on December 17th around 9pm... and this is him.
Madsen Alexander Smith
I got to visit with them in Vista for a couple of hours the night after he was born. What a beautiful boy he is. He has perfect skin, an adorable nose, and the sweetest little cry. Kate and Pat are in love with him already!

I was amazed by his wrinkled little feet and hands. Like the Christmas socks?
We are so excited for you Kate and Pat! Congratulations from the Zakaryans. We can't wait for Madsen to meet his friend Asher in a few months!

ALOHA

... from the Little Grass Shack on Kauai's south shore.  Brent and I just arrived here this afternoon and are settling into the adorable house we rented near Poipu.  We will post some pics soon but I wanted to post a blog to let those who worry know that we arrived here safe and sound and are as happy as can be about being on vacation together, this being our 5 year anniversary trip and a "babymoon".  Asher seems to be doing well inside.  I am feeling him kick more and more all the time.  Brent is sad that he hasn't been able to feel it yet but it's coming soon I'm sure.  He seems to be moving all around in there which I take as a good sign.  And I KNOW he is going to enjoy the rest and relaxation of vacationing in KAUAI.  It is so peaceful here already.  Brent and I are off to explore a bit.  Photos soon!  Love and Merry Christmas to all.
Blessings,
Kim

VCC Women's Christmas Dinner

This year I was a table host at the annual Women's Christmas Dinner at church. I loved it. I got to decorate my own table with dishes and a centerpiece. It was so much fun. Brent helped me set up the table on Thursday night and then we had the dinner on Friday. The church looked so beautiful and it was so much fun to see all the different tables and how they were decorated. My mom came to the dinner with me and we had some wonderful ladies join us as well. Brent was a "Man in Black" which means he served the meal with about 30 other men. He was great! And such an enormous help to me! What a beautiful night!

Paige Elizabeth Panfilio

The girls came down to SoCal for Kate's baby shower, which sadly I have NO photos of at this time. While they were here we got lots of fun time with little Paige. On their last morning we all went to breakfast at Rockwells and, as usual, Paige was the entertainment...
There was also a little bit of "twinning" entertainment as well as these two shared their meal!
It was so much fun to all be together!

Family Reunion in Oregon

Family... what a wonderful thing!
In October we all went up to the Oregon Coast for a Family Reunion. There were at least 30 of us in 3 different houses on the same street right near the beach. It was a blast! We got LOTS of hanging out time, a little shopping, some crabbing, golfing, and hiking. It was wonderful to be with everyone... and Brent & I are already looking forward to next year when there will be 3 more little ones around (Kate, Laura, and I are all pregnant!)

A game of ultimate frisbee... see video below!

After the game... Todd was beat!

Brent made time for his usual antics! Look at the leg extension on my husband in particular... flexibility!

On our last night most of the fam went down to the beach for a bonfire... but some of us stayed behind and hung out. It was a great night, we laughed a lot!

Fifi and Lala

What else can I say but... AARON!
I am so thankful for these times together... my life is so rich because of these people and the wonderful relationships that we share. I love you family!

Moving around...

So I felt little Asher moving for the first time in the last couple of days. It was really subtle and small, but it was legit and really cool. What an amazing experience to feel him moving. I can't believe a small human is growing inside me. God is good.

I haven't taken any photos of my growing belly yet, but we will soon and will post them. I am really not showing very much, it's there, but not real obvious. Love to all! -Kim

IT'S A .....

Monkey!!!!!Well actually, this is a picture from our ultrasound at 12 weeks (He's 17 weeks now).
It does look like a monkey though doesn't it? Anyway, drum roll please.......

IT'S A BOY!!!!
The doctor said that he's 95% sure and we think he knows what he's talking about. Apparently that's his little wiener there by that + sign. We are so excited for our son! The Zakaryan name and a legacy of chest hair will live on!!!

His name is
Asher Stephen Zakaryan

The name Asher means happy or blessed. Over a year ago, the Lord put this name especially on our hearts and we believe that this is the destiny that He has for this child.
Stephen is my middle name (and my dad's) and it means crown.

It looks like Asher is doing great.
We saw him movin' around like crazy, all swimmin' and what not.

We saw him react when Kim was laughing. He's getting filled with the joy of the Lord already!

Here's another picture from our 12 week ultrasound. You can see him so clearly in this one.
Thank you all so much for being excited with us! What an amazing feeling it is to have you all so happy for us and eager to hear the news. We are so blessed by friends and family!!!

TOMORROW...

For most I know that tomorrow is election day. And, of course, that's true. But for the Zakaryan's it is also "BABY DAY!" Tomorrow, we find out whether our baby is a girl or a boy. And we are SOOOOO excited. I would like to know what everyone thinks so PLEASE... put in your votes now as to BOY or GIRL. You can do it in the comments section just below this post! Hope to hear from all the "Zakaryan Life" fans! We will make the announcement in the next couple of days so stay tuned... Love, Kim (and Brent) :)

This is so much fun...

I love being able to choose different backgrounds instead of just the ones that Blogger has. Isn't this cute? I really liked the frogs but they will have to wait for another time. This one was just too cute. Enjoy the new look of the Zakaryan blog!!

Don't know yet...

...whether our baby is a boy or a girl. I didn't want anyone to think the frogs were some kind of hint. I know it says something about little boys but I just really liked the frogs and was excited to get something different in there. We will all have to wait about another month to know what this baby is! I can't wait to find out!
