Zakaryan Life: South Africa

The second part of our journey was Johannesburg, South Africa. We spent 4 days there working with our friends Felito & Anna Utuie. They have recently planted a church in Palmridge, a poor township outside Johannesburg. While we were there, we ministered at each of the three nightly meetings that they had. Preaching, worshiping the Lord and praying for people. We also went out amongst the homes and shared about Jesus and the new church. We were invited into many homes and led several people to the Lord through our outreach there.
Below I'll just put a bunch of pics and add some captions.

These are two women who welcomed a few of us into their home. After we talked for a while and shared with them about Jesus they received him. It was awesome because they clearly had a couple of hang ups that blocked them from receiving Christ, mostly not feeling worthy, and after we helped them through those issues, they gladly received Him and were born again!

Here is a picture of the tent. There were two boys who litterally slept in that shack and guarded the tent day and night for months while the church is getting off the ground. They were truly servants of the Lord Jesus and were so humble serving Him in that secret place.

Here is a picture of the community of Palmridge. Those houses are paid for by the South African government and given to the people as a repayment for Apartheid. A common soccer game going on in the foreground.

The kids were so sweet. The church did have mic cables or stands, so the kids were eager to step in and help out. I connected with the boy on the right, Manele, immediately, such a sweet spirit.

Here is a shot during worship in the tent. Every night we worshiped to the same song and every night that small tent was filled with extravagant praise and love for the Lord.

Below are some pictures of our time at the Rhino & Lion Reserve in Johannesburg. It was really a glorified "Wild Animal Park", like you'd find in San Diego, but it was WAY better than that. We wanted to do a real safari, but time didn't permit. We did get to play with 3 month old lions here which was an amazing experience. They were cute and cuddly, but they were still strong, even at that age.
