Chicago for Steve & Kim's Wedding

On the night we arrived we took the train into the city from the airport. Then we hailed a cab and it happened to be one of the most amazing cabs you've ever seen... it was decorated on every square inch and the driver was a piece of work himself. The inside was an underwater theme with more lights than Christmas strung all around. This is a sad picture of it, but we tried!

We had booked our first night at a hotel right in the heart of the Magnificent Mile. We got there late, went to a pub around the corner for a late night dinner and went to bed. The next day we spent exploring Chicago... what a fun city!

It was recommended to us that we try Giordano's deep dish pizza... so Friday night we walked from our new hotel, the Standard Club. It was just down the street. We waited 45 minutes for a stuffed pizza. It was okay but nothing to really write home about. It was fun to be out and to enjoy the time together!

After pizza we headed to the Rock Bottom Brewery for the "post rehearsal dinner" party! It was on the rooftop! The city looks awesome from up there. We got to see lots of old friends and had a great time hanging out. Heather and Ryan arrived that night and joined us there. It was really fun to spend some time with them!

On Saturday we headed into the city again... they were filming the new Batman movie downtown and we got to see a few shots being filmed. There were Gotham SWAT vehicles and Gotham signage all over!

Brent used to travel to Chicago with Boeing. Here is their world headquarters building behind him where he used to work.

Brent is, well... obsessed, with maps! He loves them. And I am thankful that he does because he always knows where we are going. I never have to worry!

Saturday afternoon... THE WEDDING!

Chartered buses picked everyone up at the Standard Club and took us to the church. After the ceremony we took the buses back to the Club for the reception...

We had a really great time... the reception was amazing!

Just to appease Heather Brent did some dancing... it was great! Some new moves were born.

"The Bean" is an amazing piece of art found at Millenium Park.

I was just amazed by all the flowers everywhere in the city. Streets are lined with flower boxes, hanging pots from light posts, center dividers filled with color! It was awesome amongst the buildings and streets to see the flowers.

There are several rivers that run through Chicago. And the water was a beautiful green.

Steve recommended we try a fun restaurant for dinner on our last night... Japanaise! It was one of our favorite meals ever. The food was so good, great atmosphere, and good company. We loved this place and hope that they bring it to the OC sometime!

The view from the back of the restaurant was beautiful when we were leaving...

We got up at 4:30am on Monday morning to take the train back to the airport. It was such a fun vacation!

Awesome post! I remember going to Chicago with dad when I was like 15 or something, and then with Jon in college. I like it there. That bean thing is amazing!
